She has small muscle tone. She wears a necklace of a stone carved of the air nomad symbol. Xian carries her staff around in one hand and a pipa in the other.

First five years...
Xian Li was born on a warm September 27th, at Kyoshi Island. She took after her mother in looks, but the eyes, which were from her father. Xiao Meng never thought that little Xian Li could ever be an airbender. She thought all airbenders had brown hair, but a female monk came to her house and took her away when Xian was only two years old. Zhou Lan resided in the Northern Air Temple, he knew nothing of his child (as he was not married to Xiao and he could have been punished) and continued to train. When Xian was three, the female monk in charge of her taught her little tiny things about airbending. Xian caught on quickly and even learned to walk faster by using little spheres of air to keep her from falling. Her speech didn't come until she reached four years of age, but she only would talk to her caretaker. Young Xian Li didn't like the other girls - some were too noisy or too quiet. She learned to play pai sho from her caretaker at around five years old, beginning to enjoy it very much.
From six to ten...
On Xian Li's sixth birthday, her caretaker gave her a pipa as a present. The pipa was bought from a traveling Fire Nation peasant that her caretaker bought while one a journey. Xian self-taught herself how to play and she gained a lot of friends with the young airbenders. At age eight, she got her staff. She and a few others learned to glide using the staff, finding it fun and inventing games with it. When Xian Li turned ten, her father came to visit her, after finding out that he indeed had a daughter, who was also an airbender. Xian felt no love towards him and eventually ran back to her caretaker. Zhou Lan went back to the Northern Air Temple, swearing he'll never come back for his daughter's sake.
From eleven to now...
Xian Li was still practicing airbending even during her early teen years. When she was sixteen, she finally mastered airbending, but refused to go through the ritual. Ever since her father came by, Xian Li had started to rebel against the air nomads' teachings and beliefs. On the day of the tattoo-ing ritual, Xian Li took her leave and glided away, with her pipa attached from a rope. Five months later, Xian Li reached Kyoshi Island and had been told that her mother died shortly after Xian was taken away. Xian Li joined the Kyoshi Warriors a month later. At seventeen, Xian Li left the Kyoshi Warriors to travel the world, but still keeps her mother's old house as a home.
