physical description: Despite his deep Water Tribe roots, Atka has jet black hair, which he usual keeps long and back in a warriors wolf tail. He dark blue eyes, accompanied by sleek and expressive eyebrows. Atka has a pretty athletic body, but isn't overly muscular like some. Since he isn't bulky, he can move a lot faster. As for clothing, Atka usual wears a long, blue coat over his regular, simple clothes. The coat has a thick, white fur collar which has three long, almost tail like strands of fur hanging from it, which float freely when in motion. There is also white fur on the shoulders, sleeve cuffs, and bottom edge of his long, knee length jacket. Underneath, he usually just wears some common blue clothing.

likes:
Waterbending, its the only think that makes him feel worthwhile.
Mountains, they're more to look at than giant hunks of ice.
When it rains, there's something very peaceful and purifying about it.
Reading, especially made up and adventure stories. They take him to a different reality.
Girls, obviously. But nice girls are preferred of course.
dislikes:
Being alone, even though he's socially awkward around others, Atka gets lonely.
Deserts, no water, no hope..
His father, he's the reason he's alive and suffering...
Eating the same food over and over and over again.
Super cold climates, so naturally the North Pole isn't his favorite place.
strengths:
Waterbending, he spends most of his day practicing his techniques, so he's pretty good. Not quite a grand master, but he's getting there.
Staying rational and keeping a level head MOST of the time.
Escaping bad situations, he can usually slip out of trouble.
Reading maps and charts, all of that reading he does pays off after all.
Atka is actually a pretty good hunter.
weaknesses:
Communication, he sucks at it.
Atka isn't very social, so he's pretty awkward when around others.
Holding grudges, it's hard for him to let some things go.
He has a bad temper, and often goes overboard when he's angry.
In social settings, Atka has the tendency to get walked all over, he's proud of his power and isn't afraid to voice it, but he does doubt his power sometimes..
overall personality:
Atka is a quiet person and usually keeps to himself, but in turn he is a very dedicated water bending student, but does have a bit of a cocky and full of himself. He has always lurked in the shadow of his older brother, whom is already a master water bender, but he never really thought minded it much. Many see him as inconsiderate, disrespectful, and arrogant since he doesn't always communicate well with others and is a tad bit on the boastful. Some say he's cruel, since he is ruthless with his fellow waterbending students, when in reality he just wants to show everybody that he's something that he's just as good, if not better, at waterbending as everybody else. Mostly its just for attention, since he has been kind of outcast for most of his life. Alone, Atka is very gentle and amiable, despite what others might think. He's just a little confused and lost in life at the moment, not knowing where to go or what to do. Atka feels like his life has no purpose, and that he was just a terrible mistake.

special techniques: Atka invented his own little technique, which he fondly named "The Water Dragon." Upon entering a large body of water he creates a large vortex underneath the surface with a small bubble for him to breath in at the tip of the spiraling water. Then, he rises up out of the water (much like a water spout), like a water serpent, and controls the waters movement from the head of the dragon. There he can shoot water out of the "dragon's" mouth and mass freeze all of the water, trapping opponents

history:
First off, Atka was a mistake. He was never meant to live, he was never meant to exist at all. When his mother Kasumi and step-father Hachiro were touring the Fire Nation, the two got separated and his mother was found by a small band of fire benders. Needless to say, Atka was the result of their cruelty. When he was born, his mother could hardly look at him since he was a reminder of that terrible night. His step-father mostly raised him, he felt sorry for the boy and treated him as well as he could. Ichiro was his five year old older brother at the time, who got all of his mother's attention, as well as a lot of their fathers.
Everybody seemed to know his secret but him, Atka's parents decided not to tell him, fearing that he'd be very angry and do something drastic. So he lived in isolation with very few friends for most of his young life. But while he spent all of this time alone, Atka discovered that he was a waterbender, even though he had no idea what it was he was doing at first. His older brother caught him bending and told on him. However both of his parents were glad to see that he wasn't a firebender. They thought it would be best to find him a master to teach him, which would keep his mind off things. It worked, once they found a master, the same one that taught Ichiro, Atka took to the element very quickly. Atka was easily the best in his class, with his teach even mentioning that he could soon surpass his brother.
At first, Atka was just dying for attention and turned out to be a bit of a prankster and troublemaker. He got into trouble nearly every day, but it did the trick, people noticed him even if it wasn't for the right reasons. After awhile, people caught onto his little game and stopped paying attention. Atka decided that it'd be more productive to focus on his bending with his entire heart and soul. He was absolutely determined to win his mother's love and surpass his brother. Atka began to make friends for the first time, and he was happy for once.
His bending however soon took a different turn. When Atka overheard his parents speaking about how he came to be, he instantly felt furious. This caused his bending to be much more aggressive and offensive, rather than smooth and defensive. When he'd duel the other students in his class, he brutally took them each down. His master refused to teach him if he was going to use his bending to hurt others. Atka realized what he was doing and reverted back to his old self, but felt too terrible to face anybody. He isolated himself, but desperately wanted to start over.
Atka formed a plan of escape, but wanted to finish the rest of his bending lessons before he left the Northern Water Tribe. He swore to get his revenge on his actual father, who he soon found out was a firebender named Ryuu Satoshi. What he was going to do once he found the man, even Atka didn't really know. But he intended to do something. And once his master had taught him all he had to offer, Atka set off to start over... but not after hunting down his father in the fire nation.
