physical description: To any passerby, Haruna looks quite unassuming and harmless; being 5 feet tall would tend to have that effect. Her clothes and short stature hide the fact, however, that she is quite the muscular young girl, especially around the core and arms. Her skin is comparatively dark, much darker than her mother’s – she spends all the time she can outdoors. Haruna has very small hands and feet, adding to her unthreatening appearance. She pretty much looks like a feminine version of her father; she inherited only her mother’s talent for feeling the earth and her short stature.

overall personality: Haruna is a very dichotomous person. On one hand, the most common side of her, she is dreamy, solitude-seeking, and explorative. However, when provoked or in danger, Haruna can turn into another person as quick as lightning – she becomes tactless and enraged. She is always very fidgety, especially during lessons or mealtimes – she would prefer to wander the grounds, munching on mangos. She hates being told that something is too dangerous for her or that she is wrong – she will jump through fire to prove her correctness on any small matter. She doesn’t deal with contradiction well. She likes to learn things by action and not by reading it in a book.

current home: Haruna and her parents live in a moderately sized house that is, thankfully, far from crowded cities like Ba Sing Se and that kooky Omashu. They live near the coast, in a town called Gaoling, where Toph grew up. There are tons of rivers and forests, which Haruna loves, and steep rock hillsides surrounding it, which are forbidden. Haruna explores them, anyways.
history: Haruna was raised mainly by her mother, as her father was frequently busy with other matters. Because of this, her childhood was full of freedom, but also a toughness. From her mother, Haruna learned earthbending, types of kung fu, and even somewhat a seismic sense. She has even learned metalbending, which few Earthbenders have yet to discover. Because of her mother’s blindness, Haruna grew up learning a lot of these powers blindfolded and therefore is rather talented at them. And because of the way she was treated as a kid, Toph is the only person who doesn’t treat Haruna as if she is a porcelain doll about to break.
Haruna has never been a people person; it’s not that people don’t like her, she just prefers to be by herself most of the time. She doesn’t have any sort of real interest in boys at the moment, though she’s not sure how she would react to any sort of romantic pursuit.
Haruna has lived a pretty carefree life so far. She is isolated enough that they don’t often get news of what is brewing with Azula, and her family is pretty wealthy compared with most.
